Hamidou Diallo signs 10-day contract with Washington Wizards
Former Kentucky guard, Hamidou Diallo, is back in the NBA, at least for the next 10 days.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday morning that the Washington Wizards signed the five-year veteran from their G-League Team, the Capital City Go-Go (that is a heck of a basketball team name, by the way), where he averaged 18.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.5 steals through 15 games thus far this season.
The good news is that Diallo is back in the league. The bad news is the Wizards are absolutely rotten, sitting at just 6-30 on the year. That being said, they are better than Diallo’s previous team, the Detroit Pistons, who are just 3-33 and tied for the longest losing streak in NBA history earlier this year.

Diallo played for the Pistons for the last two and a half seasons, where he averaged double figures at 10.1 points per game. He also won the NBA Dunk Contest in 2019, when he dunked over Shaq, put his elbow through the rim, and while hanging there with half his arm in the basket, opened his jersey to reveal a Superman logo. This level of elite athleticism is what has kept him in the professional ranks for so long.
Diallo averaged 10 points per game during his one season at Kentucky before taking his hops and leaping into the NBA, where he went 45th overall in the 2018 draft. He started his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder before they traded him to the Pistons.
Now he will look to provide a spark to the Wizards, a team in desperate need of some good vibes.
