Happy Birthday to Mark Pope and Alvin Brooks!
We’ve got a pair of birthdays to celebrate on this Wednesday.
New Kentucky men’s basketball head coach Mark Pope was born on this day — September 11 — in 1972 while new associate head coach Alvin Brooks III was born on the same day in 1979. Pope turns 52 today while Brooks turns 45. Both have plenty of experience in life and as college coaches, but the 2024-25 season will be their first on the staff together in Lexington.
So a big Happy Birthday to Pope and Brooks from the Big Blue Nation.
Plenty of current Kentucky players took to Instagram to show Pope and Brooks some love. One that stood out above the rest was Jaxson Robinson‘s tribute.
As we know by now, Robinson played under Pope for the last two seasons at BYU, where he turned into the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year in 2023-24. Robinson posted a great picture of Pope in a beanie with glasses on, followed up with a message that read: “You took a chance on me when nobody else believed. I will forever be grateful for that. Happy Birthday Family!”

We also know that Pope and Brooks were gifted a cake with pictures of themselves on it. Megan Summers, who is the executive assistant to Coach Pope, posted a picture of the cake on her Instagram Story. It looks quite tasty.
Today is also Kellan Grady‘s birthday. The former Kentucky sharpshooter, who suited up for La Familia in TBT over the summer, turns 27.
