HIGHLIGHTS: Kentucky signees go off in McDonald's All-American Game
Well, that was fun.
In what was the most entertaining McDonald’s All-American Game in recent memory, Kentucky‘s four signees in attendance stole the show, combining for 42 points between the East and West squads.
It was the former who took care of business to earn the win, though, led by DJ Wagner with 19 points en route to MVP honors. The future Wildcat was in takeover mode in the second half, scoring all of his points in the third and fourth quarters, including the go-ahead breakaway dunk and a pair of free throws to seal the 109-106 win over the West. He finished shooting 7-14 from the field, 3-7 from three and 2-2 at the line to go with three assists, two rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
“It was a great experience. I’m just honored to be able to come out here, step on the court with these guys on this stage. It’s a great feeling,” Wagner told ESPN after the win. “We all talked about it, said we were going to come out here and compete, because that’s what we do. We’re all competitors, and that’s what we did.”
