How Kentucky commits performed during fifth week of high school football

It was an important weekend for Kentucky football’s recruiting efforts. The coaching staff successfully pulled off the long-anticipated flipping of twin brothers Jerod and Jacob Smith from Michigan to Kentucky. The four-star defenders made the announcement almost immediately after Corbin took down Frederick Douglass during Friday night’s Kroger KSR Game of the Week. On the field, they were impressive from start to finish, holding FD scoreless all night. With them on board, Kentucky’s 2024 recruiting class is now ranked 26th in the country.
But they weren’t the only stars last week. QB Cutter Boley returned to form in a win over Lexington Catholic, WR Hardley Gilmore was coming down with highlight catches and multiple touchdowns, and EDGE Elijah Groves once again shined on both sides of the field. Elsewhere, EDGE Steven Soles and ATH Quaysheed Scott flashed moments of brilliance while K Jacob Kauwe drilled a 42-yard field goal that had at least 15 yards to spare.
Accounting for the Smith twins, Kentucky now has 19 commits for the 2024 class. More could be on the way. Let’s break down how they all performed for their respective high school teams last week. But first, a quick word from our sponsor…
