How Kentucky commits performed during fourth week of high school football

Week four of the high school football season wrapped up over the weekend. Kentucky football is now up to 17 commitments from the class of 2024, and 15 of them were in action over the last few days.

Some of this week’s top-performing future Wildcats include ATH Jiquavious Marshall, IOL Aba Selm, LB Steven Soles, and TE Willie Rodriguez. In-state commits QB Cutter Boley and IOL Hayes Johnson were also in action. The only player off this week was IOL Jadon Lafontant, who begins his season up in the northeast on Friday.

Kentucky commits Week 4 performances

Cutter Boley (QB) 6-5, 200 | Lexington Christian Academy (Hodgenville, KY)
4-star: No. 140 overall, No. 9 QB

  • It certainly wasn’t pretty, but Cutter Boley and LCA did enough to come away with a 14-12 win over then-No. 9 Christian Academy-Louisville on Friday. Boley struggled against the Centurions’ defense, finishing with just 64 passing yards on 10-23 throwing with zero touchdowns or interceptions. He did add a touchdown on the ground though. LCA will take the field again on Friday against Lexington Catholic in the annual “Holy War”.

Terhyon Nichols (CB) 5-11, 185 | Withrow (Cincinnati, OH)
4-star: No. 196 overall, No. 22 CB

  • Terhyon Nichols and Withrow suffered their first loss of the season with a 14-10 outcome against Cincinnati St. Xavier. Nichols still shined though, scoring the only touchdown for Withrow off a 96-yard kickoff return to open the second half. But that was all the offense could muster as Withrow fell to 2-1 on the season. They’ll face Trotwood-Madison on Friday.

Elijah Groves (LB) 6-3, 210 | East Robertson (Cross Plains, TN)
4-star: No. 231 overall, No. 22 LB

  • Elijah Groves and East Robertson (4-0) cruised to another easy win on Friday by beating Sycamore 49-26. On offense, Groves finished with two catches for 41 yards and returned a kickoff 32 yards. On defense, he recorded eight solo tackles, one sack, and two tackles for loss. East Robertson has won all four games this season by a combined total of 180-53. They’ll take on Jo Byrns this Friday.

Hardley Gilmore (WR) 6-1, 165 | Pahokee (Belle Glade, FL)
4-star: No. 282 overall, No. 47 WR

  • Hardley Gilmore and Pahokee (2-1) have now won back-to-back games following a dominant 43-0 victory on Friday against Palm Beach Lakes. Gilmore was only credited with one reception for 23 yards, but he did turn it into a touchdown. He also returned a punt 11 yards. Pahokee will play again on Thursday against Palm Beach Central.

Tovani Mizell (RB) 6-1, 195 | Western (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
3-star: No. 523 overall, No. 43 RB

  • Tovani Mizell and Western lost a tight one 20-15 against Coconut Creek on Friday. Stats were not made available for this game. Western takes the field this Friday against St. Thomas Aquinas.

Jiquavious Marshall (ATH) 6-4, 180 | Westside (Macon, GA)
3-star: No. 545 overall, No. 20 ATH

  • Jiquavious Marshall and Westside remain undefeated (4-0) after taking down Rutland 49-32 on Friday. Marshall was all over the field, catching four balls for 80 yards and a touchdown on offense while picking up two tackles on defense. Westside will take the next two weeks off before hosting Perry on Friday, Sept. 29.

Aba Selm (IOL) 6-4, 295 | Simon Kenton (Independence, KY)
3-star: No. 616 overall, No. 48 IOL

  • Aba Selm and Simon Kenton dropped to 1-2 on the season following a crushing 58-54 loss to Beechwood on Friday. Selm still helped Simon Kenton rush for 338 yards and four touchdowns while also taking the field on defense for stints. He recorded eight tackles on defense, four of them solo, along with one sack. Selm and the Pioneers will play again on Friday against Conner.

David Washington Jr. (WR) 5-10, 180 | St. Joseph’s Prep School (Philadelphia, PA)
3-star: No. 802 overall, No. 124 WR

  • David Washington and St. Joseph’s Prep School are back to their winning ways after opening the season with a tough 17-14 loss to national powerhouse IMG Academy (FL). St. Joseph’s has now won back-to-back games after beating Lakeland 45-24 on Friday. Statistics from this game were not made available. St. Joseph’s will be back in action again on Friday against Don Bosco Prep (NJ).

Caleb Redd (EDGE) 6-4, 220 | DeSmet (Saint Louis)
3-star: No. 833 overall, No. 60 EDGE

  • Caleb Redd and DeSmet moved to 3-0 following a 63-14 blowout victory over Chaminade on Friday. Redd finished the win with six total tackles, five of them solo, including three tackles for loss. He also recorded a sack and forced a fumble. DeSmet will take the field again on Friday against Vianney.

Wille Rodriguez (TE) 6-4, 225 | Covington Catholic (Covington, KY)
3-star: No. 892 overall, No. 48 TE

  • Willie Rodriguez and No. 8 Covington Catholic moved to 4-0 following a 31-24 win over Dixie Heights on Friday. Rodriguez continued his scoring streak, catching three passes for 48 yards and two touchdowns. But it was his second score with under 20 seconds left and the game tied that stole headlines. He’s now up to five touchdown receptions (on just 11 catches) through four games this season. Rodriguez also registered six tackles on defense, four of them solo. Up next for Covington Catholic is a road game against Beechwood on Friday.

Antwan Smith (LB) 6-3, 195 | Westlake (Atlanta, GA)
3-star: No. 920 overall, No. 89 LB

  • Antwan Smith and Westlake had no issue moving to 4-0 on the season with a 57-7 win over Southwest DeKalb on Friday. Smith was credited with four total tackles, two of them solo and one for loss. Westlake is set to play again on Friday against Newton.

Steven Soles (LB) 6-2, 215 | Powell (Powell, TN)
3-star: No. 923 overall, No. 90 LB

  • Steven Soles and Powell (2-2) got back in the win column with a convincing 47-17 win over Heritage on Friday. Soles was impressive in the victory, totaling seven tackles, three sacks, two tackles for loss, a blocked punt, and a fumble recovery off a blocked punt that he returned for a touchdown.

Lorenzo Cowan (EDGE) 6-3, 215 | Jenkins (Savannah, GA)
3-star: No. 1,067 overall, No. 79 EDGE

  • The newest addition to the 2024 recruiting class, Lorenzo Cowan was on a bye week. He’ll lead Jenkins (1-2) into a road matchup against Carrolton on Friday. Through three games this season, Cowan has recorded 14 total tackles (nine solo) along with two tackles for loss, one sack, three quarterback hurries, two pass deflections, and one blocked field goal.

Hayes Johnson (IOL) 6-3, 295 | Taylor County (Campbellsville, KY)
3-star: No. 1,088 overall, No. 96 IOL

  • Hayes Johnson and Taylor County (3-1) have now won three straight after beating LaRue County 27-16 on Friday. Johnson helped the Taylor County running backs to 152 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He also lined up on the defensive line, adding four tackles to his stats. The Cardinals will hit the field again on Friday against top-ranked Boyle County at home.

Quaysheed Scott (ATH) 6-0, 185 | Marion (Marion, SC)
3-star: No. 1,191 overall, No. 59 ATH

  • Quaysheed Scott and Marion (4-0) won by its widest margin of the season so far, smacking Hemingway 53-0 on Friday. Scott once again stuffed the stat sheet, scoring from 12 yards out on a pitch play in the first quarter while also recording a handful of tackles on defense. Marion will take on Cheraw on Friday.

Jadon Lafontant (IOL) 6-3, 315 | Brunswick School (Greenwich, CT)
3-star: No. 1,251 overall, No. 106 IOL

  • Another off week. Jadon Lafontant and Brunswick School will finally begin their 2023 season on Friday when they take on Chesire Academy on Friday.

Jacob Kauwe (K) 6-2, 200 | Billings West (Billings, MT)
3-star: No. 1,767 overall, No. 7 K

  • Jacob Kauwe and Billings West improved to 2-2 on the season with a 49-14 win over Russell on Friday. Special teams stats were not made available. Billings West will play again on Friday against Billings Senior.
