How Kentucky Football Commits Performed Over the Weekend
One night before the Wildcats marched into The Swamp and took down Florida, Kentucky’s class of 2023 commits were having big nights of their own.
The most impressive performance of the night came from the lowest-rated commit in On3’s 2023 Kentucky Football rankings, wide receiver Jakob Dixon out of Pleasure Ridge Park (KY). It seemed as if the Kentucky staff really liked what they’ve seen in Dixon, as they were his only Division I offer. Dixon had himself a massive night, hauling in eight receptions for a whopping 188 yards and two touchdowns. It’s not hard to see what the staff likes in the kid. However, Dixon’s efforts could not propel his Panthers to a win, as they would lose to Lexington Catholic 42-19.
Godfrey and Ziesmer have MONSTER games
Two of Kentucky’s more exciting defensive commits, linebacker Grant Godfrey from North Gwinnett (GA) and defensive end Tommy Ziesmer from Boyle County (KY), imposed their will over their poor opposing offenses. Ziesmer tore up Henderson County’s offensive line on his way to a seven-tackle, two-sack, three-TFL performance. In just four games this season, Ziesmer has recorded a staggering 21 tackles (seven for loss) and two sacks. Godfrey had an impressive game as well, recording 6.5 tackles, 1.5 TFL and half a sack in a loss to Parkview High Friday night.

Anglin loved what he saw in Gainesville
Three-star safety Jaremiah Anglin (who’s from Lake Wales, Florida) hopped on Twitter after Kentucky’s win and showed some love to the ‘Cats who got the big win over his home state’s team. While reaffirming his commitment to UK, he proclaimed that he wanted to “build something special”. The culture is changing in Lexington, and it seems like more talented players from across the country want to come play for Mark Stoops.
Four-star Porter gashes Holy Innocents Episcopal
Four-star wide receiver commit Shamar Porter put on a show for those in attendance, catching four passes for 87 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown came with three minutes remaining and iced the win for the Ensworth Tigers. This was Porter’s best game of the season, as he had been relatively quiet until week four.
Kentucky currently has the 33rd-ranked recruiting class in the country, according to On3.
