How Kentucky Football Commits Performed Over the Weekend
In a season where Kentucky Football is finally getting national recognition, one of the biggest stories to this point has been the great play from Kentucky’s two freshmen wide receivers, Dane Key and Barion Brown. After only four weeks, Key and Brown have both been named SEC Freshman of the Week. It looks as if Kentucky’s great freshman wide receiver trend could continue, as some 2023 receiver commits had an impressive weekend and got to work on the recruiting trail via Twitter.
WR Commits Have Big Weekend
Kentucky’s highest-rated recruit in the Class of 2023, four-star receiver Shamar Porter, had a great Friday night. Porter hauled in six receptions for 51 yards and two touchdowns for his Ensworth Tigers in a 66-7 route over St. Benedict at Auburndale (TN).
You think Barion Brown is fast? You haven’t seen four-star receiver Anthony Brown. In a loss to Fairmont (OH) Friday night, the #1 WR in the state of Ohio fielded a kick-off and ran it back for six in impressive fashion. This class is legit.
Finally, three-star receiver Jakob Dixon out of Pleasure Ridge Park continued his phenomenal senior season Friday night, catching four passes for 111 yards and one touchdown in a 35-0 win over Western. In five games this season, Dixon has amassed 574 receiving yards and six touchdowns. After being on absolutely nobody’s radar mere months ago, Dixon has burst onto the scene and looks like an amazing pickup for Coach Stoops and his coaching staff.
Kentucky Commits Recruiting Four-Star WR?
Four-star wide receiver Demitrius Bell, who trains with Shamar Porter, announced his decommitment from Michigan State last month after being committed for only two months. It seems as if some future Wildcats are making their pitches for Bell to don the blue and white next season. Four-star safety Avery Stuart out of Montgomery (AL) and three-star running back Kaden Moorman out of Franklin County (KY) were showing love to Bell this weekend after the four-star receiver posted a picture of himself in a Kentucky uniform on Sunday.

If Bell does flip to Kentucky, he will become the fourth highest-rated recruit in the class of 2023 and will surely help boost their national rank.
Kicker/Receiver Receives Kentucky Offer
Probably one of the most versatile players in the state of Kentucky, Max DeGraff out of Lexington Catholic, received an offer last Thursday to kick/play receiver at UK. DeGraff has been an anomaly this season, connecting on 19/20 PAT and 2/3 FG in five recorded games while hauling in 21 catches for 11 touchdowns and 676 yards in six recorded games this season. In a Week 2 matchup against Henry Clay, DeGraff hauled in six receptions for 274 yards and five touchdowns for a staggering average of 46 yards per catch.
In an interview with KSR earlier this month, DeGraff said that he’s more skilled at kicking. “I’m having a great year at receiver, but I’ve been kicking since I was a freshman so that’s definitely it.”
Kentucky currently has the 33rd-ranked recruiting class in the country, according to On3.
