No, Hunter Dickinson did not announce on Tuesday where he’ll play college basketball next season. But, he at least gave us some insight as to how his visits went during the latest episode of Barstool’s Roundball Podcast.
While there was hope that a potential commitment would come during the podcast, that ultimately did not happen. The Michigan All-American transfer stated that he was hoping to have a decision in mind by Tuesday, but also added that he still doesn’t quite know which program he intends to suit up for in 2023-24.
However, he did confirm that he’s down to just four potential options, the same group that many have believed to be the frontrunners for a while now: Kentucky, Kansas, Villanova, and Maryland. Dickinson has visited all four in recent weeks, with Villanova getting the final pitch.
His visit to Kentucky took place last weekend, not long after he wrapped up his trip to Kansas. He and his family met with head coach John Calipari for a quick 24-hour trip that included dinner at the popular steakhouse, Jeff Ruby’s.

So how did Dickinson’s time in Lexington go?
“I already visited there (during his high school recruitment). I didn’t think I needed to go back again but (Calipari) talked about having a new strength coach there. And he was hiring somebody else on the staff as like a player development guy. So I felt like if I were to choose Kentucky those would be two really important things in my decision and so I was like I might as well go down there for a day and meet them,” Dickinson said on the Roundball Podcast. “So that was really cool — not cool but it was really good to meet them. I felt like it was some good conversations about my development there and stuff like that. So that’s why I was really happy with my decision to go down there. It was a quick one. It was quick.”
Dickinson went on to explain that he and the Kentucky brass had “some good conversation” and that Calipari is “a real cool guy”, but he wouldn’t expand much further than that. As a funny anecdote, he mentioned that Calipari apparently ate “like one chicken tender” during the dinner.
But other than that, Dickinson didn’t delve too deep into what he thinks about the Wildcats. If you’re looking for good news though, he said just as little about the other three schools.
The recruitment continues for the nation’s top-ranked transfer portal prospect…
