The Kentucky Wildcats are adding reinforcements to the tight end room. Henry Boyer is transferring from Illinois to Kentucky. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

“I love the coaching staff, love the school, and I’m excited to get to work,” he told KSR.

Boyer is an enormous in-line tight end. The Chicago native clocks in at 6-foot-6, 270 pounds. That’s a big body that can move some bodies in the run game.

Boyer was a three-star prospect in the class of 2022. Considered a top-50 tight end, he was selected to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He developed into a rotational tight end for the Fighting Illini. Last fall Boyer logged 135 snaps. He has three career receptions for 20 yards.

The Kentucky tight end room is in the middle of a pretty significant overhaul. Jordan Dingle transferred to South Carolina. Tanner Lemaster and Khamari Anderson are seeking out new homes in the transfer portal. Willie Rodriguez looked like a player the Kentucky offense could build around in the future. Incoming freshman Mikkel Skinner has plenty of juice in the passing game and Josh Kattus has been a staple in the tight end room. That’s not enough players for a position that regularly gets beat up and sent to the sideline with injuries.
