There’s a reason why the boys of summer play baseball in the summer. February does not produce ideal conditions to play on the diamond. That is why Kentucky baseball is postponing its home opener.

The Bat Cats were scheduled to start the season at Kentucky Proud Park with a non-conference game against Morehead State on Tuesday. Snow has decided to invite itself to the party instead. The forecast is calling for a blanket across the Commonwealth on Tuesday and Wednesday. Officials at the University of Kentucky decided to plan ahead by moving the game.

The gates at Kentucky Proud Park will remain closed for Big Blue Nation for another week. The game against Morehead State has been postponed to Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 4 pm EST.

It’s the second weather interference in 24 hours for the Bat Cats. The series finale against Lipscomb was canceled after wet weather soaked Nashville over the weekend. Kentucky split the doubleheader on Friday.

The Kentucky baseball team will be back in action this weekend in Nashville. There’s a 3-game series at Belmont on the schedule, starting Friday evening at 5 pm EST. Hopefully, Mother Nature cooperates.
