Indiana transfer WR Donaven McCulley reportedly set to visit Kentucky
Donaven McCulley, who earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors during the 2023 season with Indiana, is set to visit Kentucky next weekend, according to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.
McCulley, who announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on Monday after head coach Tom Allen was fired, started his college career as a quarterback for the Hoosiers but later shifted to wide receiver during the spring of 2022. As a sophomore the following season, the 6-foot-5 native of Indianapolis, IN appeared in all 12 games for Indiana, catching 16 balls for 169 yards and one touchdown.
McCulley broke out as a true junior this season, recording 48 catches for 644 yards and six total touchdowns — all-team highs. He’s also hearing from the likes of Florida State and Michigan, per Wiltfong, but Kentucky is the first to get a visit. KSR’s Matt Jones reports that UK “has a really good shot” at landing McCulley.

McCulley was listed as a four-star prospect and a top 250 player in the country out of high school by the On3 Industry Ranking. The class of 2021 product was a star quarterback at Lawrence North before heading off to college. McCulley started out playing quarterback for the Hoosiers, even starting four games while appearing in three more as a true freshman. He threw for 475 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions with a 42.7 completion percentage before making the move to wide receiver the next season.
Kentucky has also extended a scholarship to North Texas transfer wide receiver Ja’Mori Maclin. Now, McCulley is also on the radar. Also of note, Kentucky let go of its wide receivers coach, Scott Woodward, earlier this week.
