We have an important programming note to announce… With the fall college semester and football season fully underway, it’s that time of the year once again when Kentucky Sports Radio goes out in search of young, up-and-coming journalists. If you’re a dedicated follower of this website, you’ve probably seen work from our current batch of talented interns — Daniel Hager, Katelyn Perkins, Brady Byrdwell, and Piper McCoun have all been carving out a role at KSR in their own unique ways.

Those four have done a tremendous job within the company since being brought on as college interns over the last year. Now, we’re expanding our team even further. KSR would like to officially announce two new interns to the crew: Katie Hutchison and Phoenix Stevens, who will begin their time with us covering the Kentucky Women’s Basketball beat. They will also assist KSR in our high school coverage moving forward along with other areas related to Kentucky sports.

First and foremost, let’s get to know these two just a little bit better.

Katie is a junior at the University of Kentucky majoring in sports journalism and minoring in marketing. She hails from Ashland, KY, and has grown up with a writing teacher for a mom. As for Phoenix, he is a freshman at UK also majoring in sports journalism with a minor in coaching. He is a native of McLean County out in the western area of the state and was raised by a sports-obsessed dad. Both come from die-hard UK sports families and have grown up around a radio with Matt Jones’ voice helping induce their love for the Wildcats.

As they go through their time at KSR, you’ll learn plenty about them and the passion they plan to bring to a fan base that cares more about their team than any other.

You can follow both of them on social media: @kghutchi (Katie) and @phxste75 (Phoenix). These two are rising stars in the industry and we can’t wait to see how they add to everything that KSR already brings to the Big Blue Nation!
