Goose Givens to call Kentucky's Bahamas games alongside Tom Leach
The tip times for Kentucky’s exhibition games in the Bahamas leaked yesterday, but today, we got some more information about the radio and television broadcasts. Legendary Kentucky Wildcat Jack “Goose” Givens will join Tom Leach on the radio call on 630 WLAP and the UK Sports Network, filling the spot left by the late, great Mike Pratt. Pratt passed away last month after a long battle with cancer. He served as Kentucky’s radio color analyst for over 20 years.
Givens joined the UK Sports Network ahead of the 2020-21 season as Dave “Buzz” Baker’s co-host on the Don Franklin Countdown to Tipoff pregame show. As a player, Givens led the Cats to the 1978 national championship, scoring 41 points in the win over Duke and earning Final Four Most Outstanding Player honors.
As reported yesterday, all four games will air live on the SEC Network. The Big Blue Nation’s favorite broadcaster Tom Hart will handle play-by-play, with Dane Bradshaw providing color commentary, live from the Baha Mar. If you missed it yesterday, here are the tip times:
- Wednesday, August 10: 7:00 p.m. EST vs. Dominican Republic U22 National Team
- Thursday, August 11: 7:00 p.m. EST vs. Monterey Tech (Mexico)
- Saturday, August 13: 6:00 p.m. EST vs. Carleton University (Canada)
- Sunday, August 14: 12:00 p.m. EST vs. Bahamas National Team
The fun starts three weeks from today.
