Jack Harlow wins 2v2 Basketball Tournament, donates winnings to HBCUs in Kentucky

Kentucky rapper Jack Harlow has made quite a name for himself over the past year. The Louisville native has seen his single "What's Poppin'" turn platinum, he dropped a debut album, performed one of the more unique NPR Tiny Desk concerts to date, and is slated to host Saturday Night Live on March 27th. But last night, he added another accomplishment to his increasingly large résumé, one that has nothing to do with music.
The 22-year-old joined three other rappers in Bleacher Report's inaugural 2v2 "Open Run" tournament Saturday evening in Atlanta. Harlow united with Atlanta-based rapper Quavo to take on Lil Baby and 2 Chainz (also Georgia natives) in a high-stakes competition to 21. Not only was a $500k purse was on the line, but Bleacher Report also vowed to donate an additional $500k to an HBCU of the winning team's choosing.

Harlow and Quavo mounted an early lead and never looked back, eventually winning the contest 21-7. Quavo, a rapper whose basketball skills are well-documented, carried the load with 17 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks. Harlow chipped in with four points, but received credit from the event's hosts for his hustle and defense on the physically imposing 2 Chainz.

It may not have been the prettiest basketball you'll ever watch, but the outcome will bring a positive impact back to the Bluegrass State. Harlow announced that he's donating his $500k to two of the state's HBCUs in Kentucky State University and Simmons College of Kentucky.

Tyler Herro may not have yet fixed his jumper, but Harlow's impact in the rap world and in his home state are only continuing to grow. And even if he roots for UK's archrival, that's something we can all take pride in.
