In just a few days, the second college football transfer portal session of the offseason will open up for business. Ahead of the upcoming two-week window that runs from April 15 through April 30, Kentucky’s coaching staff is already making moves.

Jurriente “JD” Davis, who announced his intentions to transfer out of Jackson State back on March 28, recently wrapped up an official visit to Kentucky, which he made known on his social media Tuesday afternoon. A 6-foot-1, 225-pound linebacker, Davis has two years of college eligibility remaining.

Davis began his post-high school career at Hutchinson Community College (KS) before transferring to Middle Tennessee State for the 2021 season then transferring again to Jackson State for 2022. While playing for JSU under Deion Sanders (now the head coach at Colorado), Davis appeared in 13 games, totaling 58 tackles (38 solo), 7.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two quarterback hits, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble.

Although Davis has technically played for three schools already, he’ll be eligible to play college football immediately in 2023 as a graduate transfer. He helped Jackson State (12-1) win the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship this past season and also played in the Cricket Celebration Bowl, a 41-34 loss to North Carolina Central.

During his one season at Middle Tennessee State, Davis recorded the fourth-most tackles on the team at 68 (32 solo) to go along with three sacks, 5.5 tackles for loss, two pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries. While at Hutchinson CC, he was named a First-team JUCO All-American and helped lead his squad to a national championship after registering 41 tackles, three sacks, seven tackles for loss, and one interception.
