Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan shocked many in the NFL when decided to retain general manager Trent Baalke and fire head coach Doug Pederson. But things can change quickly. The AFC South franchise is now blowing it up after a botched coaching search.

Former Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen withdrew from the search on Wednesday. That almost immediately led to the Jaguars moving on from Baalke.

Sometimes teams decide to blow it up during the middle of a season and start a tank. This time we’re seeing the Jags blow it up in the middle of a coaching search. Assistant general manager Ethan Waugh now holds the interim title as Jacksonville will continue this search. As you could guess, the Jags were the butt of all jokes on social media after the development.

Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham and former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh were finalists along with Coen. There is also a belief that Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady could emerge in this search as the Jaguars reset.

Many believed that keeping Baalke could handcuff Jacksonville in the search for a new head coach. That all played out quickly on Wednesday. A rare “blow it up decision” happened in the middle of a critical search once Liam Coen decided to remain an offensive coordinator over being a head coach in Duval County.
