Jacob Smith featured in new 2024 ESPN 300 Rankings
ESPN revealed a new update to its 2024 ESPN 300 high school football player rankings on Wednesday. The list of the top 300 high school seniors includes four future Kentucky Wildcats. Among them, Jacob Smith is featured on the World Wide Leader’s website as one of the “top scheme fits” in the 2024 recruiting class.
“Like Josh Allen and J.J. Weaver before him, the 6-foot-5, 235-pound hybrid DEL/OLB will fit quite nicely at the ‘Jack’ position for Mark Stoops,” the new ESPN 300 story notes. “Smith is super long and rangy, covering a ton of ground on the run. He has enough twitchiness to win with his first step as a pass rusher and tested well at camp this past spring. Smith ran a 4.79 40-yard dash and a 7.39 three-cone L-drill, which is very impressive.”
One of twin brothers who committed to Kentucky last month, Smith is ranked No. 89 in the new update. He is the 14th-ranked defensive end in the class.
The other Smith, Jerod, is ranked No. 157 in the ESPN 300. The Smith boys are in-state standouts at Corbin High School.
