Kentucky is finalist for 2024 OL Jac'Qawn McRoy
After signing just one high school offensive tackle in the class of 2023, that is a major position of need in the class of 2024. Latest commit Aba Selm could help fill that need when the three-star recruit joins the Kentucky program, but more help is needed.
Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville offensive tackle Jac’Qawn McRoy released his top 10 schools on Saturday. Kentucky is in the mix joined by Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Tennessee.
The top-500 prospect in the class of 2024 is the No. 26 ranked offensive tackle in the country according to the On3 Consensus. Kentucky hosted McRoy for an unofficial visit in September and appears to be in the running for the monstrous line-of-scrimmage prospect that checks in at 6-foot-8 and 340 pounds.
McRoy spoke with On3’s Chad Simmons and had some very positive things to say about the Wildcats.
“Kentucky is my day one school. They were the first to offer and that means a lot to me,” McRoy told Simmons. “The coaches that offered me have moved on to other jobs, but coach (Zach) Yenser is my guy now and he is coming after me hard.

Kentucky’s second-year offensive line coach is from Alabama and has strong ties in that region. Yenser is now trying to make a splash by winning a big boy recruitment in the SEC footprint. However, the coaching roster in Lexington won’t be a big factor for the mammoth offensive tackle.
“I am not really looking at the coaches too much when I make my decision,” said McRoy. “Coaches change jobs every season in college football, so I am looking at a lot more than that. I am looking at the environment, where I could play regardless of who is coaching me. There will be a lot more to it than just the coaching staff. There will be a lot more to my decision. I am looking at the biggest picture.”
Kentucky is in the running for a significant offensive tackle prospect. This is a good development after the Wildcats had trouble gaining traction with many true tackles last recruiting cycle.
