Ja'Kayden Ferguson locks in official visit with Kentucky
Kentucky has not recruited in the great state of Texas fairly often in the Mark Stoops era but that could be changing with wide receivers Daikiel Shorts Jr. on staff. The 29-year-old assistant coach spent three seasons working for Dana Holgorsen at Houston and has developed relationships in that talent-rich area. Those relationships have Kentucky in the running for another receiver.
Fort Bend Marshall wide receiver Ja’Kayden Ferguson has locked in an official visit with Kentucky. The three-star prospect will be in Lexington on Friday.
Ja’Kayden Ferguson will join tight end Brody Lennon, cornerback Andrew Purcell, offensive tackle Bryan Auguste, wide receiver Samari Reed, and UCF cornerback commit Demarcus Gardner on campus this weekend. Kentucky commits Martels Carter, Quintin Simmons, Brennen Ward, and Marquise Davis will also be in attendance for their official visits. Houston area wideout Andrew Marsh is also expected to visit Lexington next week. Can the Wildcats close on some key targets while having some recruiting help from commits on campus?
A big weekend is on tap for the Kentucky football program. The wide receiver spot is a position of need with only eight scholarship players on the roster in 2024. There could be some heavy turnover in Shorts’ room after the season. Kentucky likely needs to sign three high school wide receivers in this class.

The Wildcats will look to make a push for Ja’Kayden Ferguson before the prospect hits up LSU for his second official visit next weekend.
