Blue-chip CB Ja'Keem Jackson commits to Florida

One of Kentucky’s top cornerback prospects is now off the board. Billy Napier’s Florida program has recorded a significant in-state recruiting win.
Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola defensive back Ja’Keem Jackson committed to the Gators on Thursday night over finalists Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, Penn State, and Tennessee. Cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond scored a big recruiting for Florida to give their 2023 class 13 commitments and now five top-200 prospects.
Defensive backs coach Chris Collins made a strong run for Kentucky and got Jackson on campus for a multi-day unofficial visit in June. However, the Wildcats were unable to get an official visit scheduled before the four-star cornerback made his final decision.
After a hot recruiting month, Kentucky was unable to get one more win before the calendar turns to August. Kentucky sits at 13 verbal commitments and has the No. 33 overall class as the start of the college football season is just one month away. In the secondary, the Wildcats remain committed to upgrading the position.

The coaching staff has accepted commitments from three prospects highlighted by four-star defensive back Avery Stuart who could play either cornerback or safety at the next level. Last week, Kentucky landed New Jersey cornerback Nasir Addison, and the former Maryland commit seems to have a high ceiling.
The Wildcats still have a good amount of work to do before signing day arrives in December. Getting targets on campus for official visits during the season will be essential. Recruiting never stops.
