Four-star athlete Jalewis Solomon sets commitment date

One of Kentucky’s top targets in the 2024 class is ready to wrap up his recruitment. Four-star athlete Jalewis Solomon tells On3’s Chad Simmons he will announce his college decision on August 5. Kentucky is one of five finalists for the No. 230 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings, along with Auburn, Florida State, South Carolina, and Texas A&M.

Solomon took an official visit to Kentucky the weekend of June 16. He told Simmons he enjoyed the family vibe from the Wildcats’ staff.

“It was my first time visiting them but it felt like I had been there more than once,” he said of Kentucky. “The coaches make you feel like it’s home and they have a great plan for me on the offensive side of the ball so I like that.”

Solomon is the No. 10 athlete in the 2024 class in the On3 Industry Rankings. Unlike most recruits with the ATH tag, he actually can play on either side of the line of scrimmage at the next level at wide receiver or defensive back. Kentucky’s coaching staff sees him as a wide receiver. Kentucky was the 10th Divison I offer for Solomon, which he received all the way back in Jan. 2022 from defensive backs coach Chris Collins.

In June, Solomon visited each of his five finalists except for Auburn. He will visit South Carolina again on July 28, a week before announcing his decision. The Ellaville, Georgia native told Simmons he wants to go to a college close to home but not “too close.” Florida State is currently trending as the favorite at 31.8% in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Kentucky only had a 6.8% chance, but a lot can happen in a month.
