Jamal Murray's performance yesterday against Georgia elevated his status to one of the most elite players to put on a University of Kentucky jersey. Murray replaced Brandon Knight as the all-time highest scoring freshman in UK history. By the end of his career at Kentucky, Murray will have amassed over 700 points (possibly 800, it's not unreasonable), along with having hit a 3-point shot in every game he played as a Cat. Murray has made one in every game so far, it's not changing now. And to think we could have had Malik Newman, Stephen Zimmerman, or Jaylen Brown....how did we get so lucky? Good things come to those who wait, BBN, and we've waited long enough. Jamal, you're filthy. Today against A&M, Murray looks to break another UK record for most consecutive games with a 20-point performance. Kevin Grevey holds the current streak of 12 straight games with 20 points, which dates back to the 1974-75 season. In total, Murray has had 20 such games with 20+ points during his only season in Lexington. He only trails Jodie Meeks' single season record of 117 made three-point field goals by 10, currently sitting at 107 for the season. Murray is on the verge of breaking countless other single season scoring records, and he is undoubtedly an all-time scoring legend in our program history...as only a freshman. All he needed was a little target practice.
