Jamal Murray received his NBA championship ring ahead of Nuggets' season-opener
Jamal Murray became an NBA champion over the summer. Ahead of Tuesday night’s 2023-24 season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers, he was honored with his championship ring.
It was only a few months ago that Murray and two-time MVP Nikola Jokic were leading the Denver Nuggets to the franchise’s first-ever NBA Finals series victory. The Nuggets needed just five games to take down the Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat back in June. Murray and Jokic were the two-headed monster that Miami — or the rest of the league, for that matter — had zero answer for. Murray averaged 26.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game across 20 contests during the 2023 Playoffs. He did so on incredible shooting splits of 47.3/39.6/92.6.

After missing all of the 2021-22 season due to a torn ACL, it took Murray a couple of months to round back into form once he finally got healthy. But once he did, the former Kentucky Wildcat looked every bit like the future All-Star he’ll soon be. Not long before Denver kicked off its run at a repeat on Tuesday night, Murray was gifted the ring that will forever make him known as an NBA champion. He whipped out the signature “Blue Arrow” celebration to make the occasion, too.
More importantly, the Nuggets started the season 1-0 with a 119-107 win over the Lakers. Murray finished his season-opener with 21 points, six assists, and just one turnover on 8-13 shooting (3-5 3PT) in 34 minutes of action.
The ring is pretty snazzy looking, too.
