PICKING Georgia at Kentucky | Can Bulldogs, Kirby Smart DOMINATE Wildcats? What's wrong with UK?

Chip Trayanum is still out as he deals with a hand injury. Jason Patterson made a surprise appearance on Kentucky’s injury report. The Wildcats are now down to just two scholarship tailbacks available for Saturday’s game against No. 1 Georgia.

Expect Demie Sumo-Karngbaye to receive a heavy workload. Also expect redshirt freshman Jamarion Wilcox to get a significant playing time opporunity.

The former high three-star recruit was a big recruiting win for the Kentucky football program in the 2023 recruiting cycle. Jamarion Wilcox picked the Wildcats over Auburn and Clemson after rushing for 2,059 yards and 30 touchdowns as a senior at Douglasville (Ga.) South Paulding in 2022. Expectations were high for the Peach State product but Wilcox never pushed for playing time during his first year in Lexington.

That has changed in 2024.

The second year player was heavily involved in the running back competition during fall camp and got some snaps against Southern Miss. Jamarion Wilcox can provide the offense with some explosive play juice at tailback. Facing a Georgia run defense that currently ranks No. 50 in rushing success rate allowed, we could see Kentucky attempt to shorten the game with by pounding the rock. That means opportunities for Jamarion Wilcox.

The young player could make a splash on Saturday at Kroger Field.
