Beginning the third round, 39-year-old James Hahn found himself eight shots behind leader J.T. Poston at the Barbasol Championship. Following 18 holes, the No. 174 overall player in the world golf rankings has taken the lead at Keene Trace Golf Club. On Saturday, Hahn shot a course record 60 which was 12 under par in the par 72 layout. Hahn finished his bogey-free round with a pair of eagles on two of the par 5s to go along with four birdies on both the front and back nines. Hahn had a chance to break 60 but was unable to pour in a birdie on 18. On the PGA Tour, breaking 60 has only happened a dozen times. Scottie Scheffler was the last player to accomplish that feat when the top-20 golfer posted a 59 at the 2020 Northern Trust. The fans gave Hahn a much-deserved ovation as he walked off the 18th green. https://twitter.com/sydney_LEX18/status/1416500567606710277?s=20 This isn't the first time Hahn has performed well on a weekend this season. The professional entered the Barbasol Championship having missed eight consecutive cuts plus a withdraw in the Honda Classic but had it rolling early in the season. The California alum has recorded four top-10 finishes this season and was in contention at the Waste Management Phoenix Open back in February. Despite the hot shooting and new record, the tournament is still wide open. Hahn will likely head into Sunday not in the lead as there are birdies to be grabbed all throughout Keene Trace. However, the new record holder is 100 percent in contention. The Open Championship had most everyone's attention in the golf world, but the Barbasol Championship was the tournament that produced a record on Saturday.
