James Young has back-to-back 40-point games in G-League
Don’t write James Young’s NBA obituary just yet.
After being waived by the Milwaukee Bucks last month, Young has found new life with the Bucks’ G-League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd. Young has turned in back-to-back 40-point performances, putting up 40 points (12-15 FG) vs. the Maine Red Claws on Saturday and 41 points (12-17 FG, 9-11 3 PT FG) vs. the Delaware 87ers last night.
Prior to last night’s scoring flurry, Young was named G-League Performer of the Week. So far this season, he’s averaging 29.6 points, the most of any player in the G-League. Last year, Young averaged 2.3 points in 29 games with the Boston Celtics, who did not resign his contract. After a stint with the New Orleans Pelicans summer league team, he signed a training camp contract with the Bucks, but was optioned to the Herd.
More performances like this and it’s only a matter of time before he gets called up.
