Washington Commanders release Jamin Davis
Jamin Davis was a former three-star recruit from South Georgia who Kentucky helped develop into a first-round draft pick. The Washington Commanders selected the linebacker with the No. 19 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft. Davis’ stay with the NFC East franchise did not last four full seasons.
On Tuesday, the Commanders announced that Jamin Davis was being released heading into Week 8.
The 25-year-old recorded 102 tackles and three interceptions as a redshirt junior for Kentucky in 2020. After a strong pre-draft process with superb athletic testing, Jamin Davis became a quick riser up draft boards. The Washington linebacker started 36 games over his first three seasons in the NFL and recorded a career-high 104 tackles in 2022. However, Washington made a front office and coaching change following the 2023 season with general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn taking over. That led to Davis switching positions (linebacker to EDGE).
