Georgia linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson was a surprise entrant into the transfer portal on Friday. A former All-American selection, Dumas-Johnson leaves Athens with one year of eligibility remaining, two national championship rings, and 125 career tackles.

Auburn hosted the transfer for a visit on Sunday. Turns out that Dumas-Johnson made another stop in the SEC this weekend before the dead period arrives on Monday. Rivals’ Justin Rowland is reporting that that the transfer visited Kentucky over the weekend.

Jamon Dumas-Johnson (6-1, 245) was a top-250 recruiting win for Georgia out of Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy in the class of 2021. As a true freshman, Dumas-Johnson played in 14 games mostly on special teams. The four-star recruit became a full-time starter as a true sophomore in 2022 earning second-team AP All-American honors after recording 70 tackles and nine tackles for loss. Dumas-Johnson returned in 2023 and started nine games as a junior before suffering a left arm injury. The veteran linebacker finished the season with 34 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss.

The SEC transfer will be a true senior in 2024. Kentucky currently has a big need at off-ball linebacker after Trevin Wallace announced his intentions to enter the NFL Draft. Jamon Dumas-Johnson would be a high quality replacement.

Jamon Dumas-Johnson is currently the No. 43 overall player in On3’s transfer portal rankings.
