Jared Lorenzen to be Inducted into the KHSAA Hall of Fame
The KHSAA Hall of Fame is adding one of its brightest stars in 2023. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association announced on Friday afternoon that Jared Lorenzen will be one of 14 members of its 2023 Hall of Fame Class.
Before he broke records at the University of Kentucky, Jared Lorenzen was a multi-sport star at Ft. Thomas Highlands. Teaming up with another future Wildcat, Derek Smith, the Ft. Thomas tandem tore up the gridiron and hardwood. The Blue Birds appeared in three-straight Sweet 16s at Rupp Arena and won the 1998 AAA State Championship in football. That year he was an All-American and took home the title of Mr. Football.
Lorenzen became a beloved member of the BBN at the University of Kentucky. The gunslinger was a four-year starter that threw for more than 10,300 passing yards and 78 touchdowns, finishing his career with six NCAA records, four SEC records and 11 UK records.
Following his time in Lexington, the Hefty Lefty spent two seasons in the NFL and helped the New York Giants dethrone the undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. He was inducted in the UK Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015. Sadly, we lost Jared Lorenzen far too soon. He passed away in July 2019 at the age of 38. His absence is as large as his presence was. We still miss him dearly and are so excited to celebrate his accomplishments.

With Jared’s induction, that means two of the four original KSR Football Podcasters are KHSAA Hall of Famers. Freddie Maggard was inducted alongside Dennis Johnson and Kyra Elzy in the 2015 Hall of Fame Class. Now it’s only a matter of time before Drew’s efforts on the Madisonville tennis court are formally recognized.
