USA Basketball is slowly cutting down its roster ahead of the 2025 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup.

After making the initial cut earlier this week (down from 32 players to 18), incoming Kentucky freshman Jasper Johnson made the second round of cuts at the USA Men’s U19 National Team training camp, which was announced Thursday. The 6-foot-5 guard is one of 15 players left at training camp, which will ultimately be trimmed down to just 12 before Team USA heads over to Lausanne, Switzerland, from June 28-July 6 for the World Cup.

Johnson’s new teammate at Kentucky, incoming freshman center Malachi Moreno, was surprisingly cut from the roster on Monday. But Johnson remains in contention for one of the dozen finalized roster spots, which will be announced in the coming days.

Joining Johnson among the 15 players fighting for the 12 remaining spots are several of Mark Pope‘s top recruiting targets. Pope was in attendance as an on-court coach for the beginning of training camp, allowing him some extra face time with his favorite prospects — never a bad thing in the world of recruiting. There are four class of 2026 recruits still left at training camp with interest from Kentucky.

Christian Collins (2026), Jason Crowe Jr. (2026), Royce Parham (Marquette), and Deron Rippey Jr. (2026) were the players cut on Thursday. Collins, Crowe, and Rippey Jr. are all being recruited in some fashion by the Wildcats. Additionally, Jordan Smith Jr. (2026), who recently suffered an injury, was included back on the updated roster.
