How are the Kentucky Wildcats handling their first loss of the season? The frustration is clear after the rough start inside Littlejohn Coliseum pushed them away from their identity on both ends and led to a 70-66 victory for the Clemson Tigers.

Physicality was an issue on both ends, highlighted by a domination by the home team on the offensive glass in the first half to set the tone. Mark Pope’s squad fought back, but couldn’t totally recover to pull off the comeback win.

“They sped us up a little bit, but it’s no physicality we haven’t seen the past few days,” Amari Williams said. “It went that way today. In the flow of our offense, I feel like they bumped us off our spots a little bit. In terms of shots, it’s basketball, you know? We’re not going to make every shot, some of them didn’t fall. l’m just gonna work on it and be ready for the next one.”

As bad as it was overall, the response was something positive to take away from the loss.

“The first half was a little bit of a wake-up call for us,” Jaxson Robinson added. “Going into halftime, it was a big emphasis to keep (Ian) Schieffelin off the offensive glass and the rest of the team. I think we did a great job of that in the second half and evened out the rebound margin. You just have to live with it.”
