BYU transfer Jaxson Robinson was arguably Kentucky’s biggest recruiting win in the transfer portal this season. The 6-foot-6 wing went through the entire draft process before finally committing and signing with Kentucky. Playing in Mark Pope‘s five-out system in Provo, Robinson won Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year in 2023-24 as he averaged 14.2 points in 26.2 minutes per game. The former Texas A&M transfer poured in 81 three-point field goals and went for 20-plus points five times in this balanced system.

Jaxson Robinson is a legitimate NBA prospect, but the scorer struggled to get rolling in his first three games at Kentucky scoring just 23 total points while shooting 4-of-16 from three-point range. Robinson specifically had a rough outing against Duke scoring just one point on four field goal attempts. The super senior officially broke his slump in Kentucky’s 97-68 victory over Lipscomb.

The win led the Wildcats in scoring (20 points), field goal attempts (10), free throw attempts (five), and plus/minus (+29) in the victory. Jaxson Robinson was aggressive from the opening tip, hunted shot attempts, and poured in a trio of three-point field goals. Kentucky is a different offense when Robinson is filling it up.

In the blowout win, Kentucky’s offense scored 98 points in 67 possessions for a ridiculous 1.45 points per possession finish. The home team at Rupp Arena shot 54.8 percent from the field with 24 of 34 field goals coming at the rim or behind the three-point line. Kentucky also got to the free throw line (22 attempts) at a good rate as four players finished with 10 points or more.

Kentucky just produced an elite offensive performance, and Jaxson Robinson was a major reason why. The BYU transfer showed why Mark Pope and the UK coaching staff pursued him so hard in free agency. The offense looks different when Robinson is aggressive and making shots.
