Jayvant Brown, 4-Star Linebacker, Signs with Kentucky
Mike Stoops has made his first signing day splash at the University of Kentucky. Like Randy Orton, Kentucky came from outta nowhere to secure a commitment from Jayvant Brown. The four-star linebacker from South Florida is putting pen to paper and joining the BBN during the Early Signing Period.
Up until this week, Jayvant Brown was a Michigan State commitment. Brown committed to Mel Tucker during an unofficial visit to East Lansing last month. After taking some time to mull the situation, he ultimately decided to back off his pledge and sign with Kentucky.
In addition to interest from Michigan State, Brown also had offers from Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame and many, many others.
Jayvant Brown is the No. 381 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, the No. 34 linebacker, and the No. 71 player from Florida, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Kentucky now has two off-ball linebackers committed in the 2023 recruiting class and both of them are four-star talents. North Gwinnett’s (GA) Grant Godfrey is just a smidge higher than Brown in the On3 Consensus, considered the No. 29 LB and No. 324 player overall in the On3 Consensus.
During his four-year high school career Jayvant Brown attended three different high schools. Following his junior season at Deerfield Beach he was a Sun Sentinel Super 11 selection after he recorded 14 TFLs and 10.5 sacks. He transferred to St. Thomas Aquinas for his senior season and had 61 tackles, 5.0 for loss and 3.0 sacks.
The 6-foot, 220-pound linebacker is a menace in the middle of the defense. Brown is a physically imposing, sure-handed tackler. With the right coaching at the University of Kentucky, he can develop into a star in Lexington.
