Injury Report: JJ Weaver and JuTahn McClain "week to week"; Tashawn Manning expected back

Thankfully, J.J. Weaver‘s injury is not as bad as originally feared. Today, Mark Stoops said Weaver is “week to week” with the arm injury suffered vs. Youngstown State. He will not play this week vs. Northern Illinois.
Weaver landed awkwardly on his left arm on third down of Youngstown State’s first drive, causing his elbow to bend inward. He did not return and was spotted in the tunnel with his arm in a sling and a brace on his elbow. The junior outside linebacker has a team-high tying 15 tackles and one sack this season.
Freshman Keaten Wade came in and played in Weaver’s place following the injury, totaling three tackles and one-half sack. With Weaver out vs. Northern Illinois, Wade will get another opportunity to shine this week.
Tashawn Manning expected back, JuTahn McClain TBD
In other injury news, starting offensive lineman Tashawn Manning missed Saturday’s game vs. Youngstown State but Stoops said he expects him back vs. Northern Illinois. Redshirt senior Quintin Wilson started in Manning’s absence at right guard.

Junior running back JuTahn McClain missed the Youngstown State game as he recovers from a lower-leg injury suffered in the season-opener vs. Miami (OH). Stoops said McClain remains “week to week” but didn’t rule him out vs. Northern Illinois.
“I mentioned last week he was week-to-week. He was out there a bit last week in practice, wasn’t quite going to be effective enough so we’ll see how it goes this week.”
