Kentucky’s defense shut an opponent out today for the first time since 2009, and they did it mostly without one of their leaders. Junior outside linebacker J.J. Weaver landed awkwardly on his left arm in the first quarter, causing his elbow to bend inward. He did not return and was spotted in the tunnel with his arm in a sling and a brace on his elbow.

“Injured,” Mark Stoops said of Weaver’s status after the game. “You think I’m going to tell you anything else? [Laughter] I don’t — I hope it’ll be — I’ll see what happens and I’ll give you a better update on Monday. I really have no idea at this point. I don’t think it’s season-ending or anything like that.”

Starting right tackle Jeremy Flax also went down with what appeared to be a knee injury but was able to return to the game.
