Latest decision timeline on John Calipari's future at Kentucky
A critical day regarding the future of the Kentucky men’s basketball program will arrive on Monday. KSR’s Matt Jones went live for a Twitter Space on Sunday night to provide the latest. All signs point to a final decision to arrive on Monday when John Calipari gets back into town after spending the weekend in New Jersey.
“John Calipari is coming back tomorrow, and my assumption is whatever happens will probably take place tomorrow evening or tomorrow late afternoon,” Jones said. “Because of that, I suspect we won’t know anything until late Monday or Tuesday.”

Following the loss to Oakland on Thursday, Calipari headed to his home in New Jersey to spend the weekend. The Hall of Fame head coach will return to Lexington on Monday and some important meetings will take place. A new chapter for Kentucky basketball could arrive, but nothing is official yet.
It is currently unknown what the final decision from Director of Athletics Mitch Barnhart will be, but a final decision is coming on Monday. Expect things to become official either Monday night or Tuesday. We will know soon whether the Wildcats will be running it back for year 16 with John Calipari or if Barnhart will be conducting a third men’s basketball head coaching search during his tenure in Lexington.
