John Calipari, players pray for tornado victims at Notre Dame's Grotto
The Kentucky Basketball team is thinking of the Big Blue Nation from afar. John Calipari tweeted a picture of the team praying for those affected by the Western Kentucky tornadoes at the Grotto at Notre Dame. Later today, the Wildcats will play the Fighting Irish.
“We are devastated this morning seeing the images of what has happened in Western Kentucky and across our state,” Calipari tweeted. “We cannot imagine what you are going through. We stopped by the Grotto on the way to shootaround to pray for everyone affected by last night. You are in our hearts.”
If you missed the news this morning, at least four tornadoes touched down in Western Kentucky last night, causing major damage. One tornado traveled over 200 miles, crossing four states and completely devastating the town of Mayfield. Late last night, Governor Andy Beshear said he expects the death toll to reach 70-100 people, if not more. A roof collapsed at a candle factory in Mayfield with over 100 people inside, causing widespread casualties.
