WATCH: John Calipari on Kentucky's win over Vanderbilt
Like the rest of us, John Calipari was in a better mood following Kentucky’s 109-77 win over Vanderbilt. After losing back-to-back games in Rupp Arena, the Cats bounced back in a big way in Nashville, scoring in triple digits for the fourth time this season on 55.4% from the field and 15-26 (57.7%) from three-point range. While Kentucky’s offensive barrage was the story of the night — the Cats’ 109 points are the most scored by Kentucky in a road game since the 1996 team hung 120 on Vanderbilt — Calipari spent a good chunk of the press conference talking about defense, which he says will be the focus of 70% of practices moving forward.
“If we become, let’s just say 8-10% better defensively, and we start playing a little more physical, we’re diving on the floor, now, the way we score, it’s a different deal. But, look, I’ve said it I’m not trading this team for any other team. I believe in them. I told them that.”

Calipari also talked about how proud he is of Justin Edwards and Jordan Burks for their breakthrough performances, how Zvonimir Ivisic stepped up with Tre Mitchell out, how he copes with the ups and downs of being Kentucky’s coach, and what it was like to coach against his son Brad, now an assistant on Jerry Stackhouse’s staff.
