[UPDATE] John Calipari to meet with current Kentucky players this afternoon about Arkansas job
John Calipari is going to be the head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks. While nothing has been made official by either Kentucky or Arkansas, barring a major last-second collapse, this will be the reality we live in. The current group of Wildcats is about to experience that reality first-hand.
According to KSR’s Jack Pilgrim and Matt Jones, Calipari will meet with his current Kentucky players at his house in Lexington this afternoon to inform them that he will accept the head coaching job at Arkansas. Pilgrim reports the meeting is set for 2:00 p.m. EST.
Reports began to surface on Sunday night that Calipari had accepted a significant five-year deal to coach the Razorbacks.
Since the offseason began a couple of weeks ago following Kentucky’s first-round NCAA Tournament exit to Oakland, the rumor mill has been mostly quiet related to potential roster moves such as stay/go NBA Draft decisions and the transfer portal. So far, only Adou Thiero, Justin Edwards, and Aaron Bradshaw have announced a plan.

Thiero and Bradshaw will enter the transfer portal and test the NBA Draft waters while Edwards intends to go pro and not return to college. Bradshaw made his announcement on Monday, not even half a day after news of Calipari’s deal with Arkansas broke.
But there are plenty more decisions to be made, most notably the one from Reed Sheppard and whether or not he’ll go pro as a likely top-10 pick or return for a sophomore campaign. This afternoon’s meeting should go a long way in helping fast-forward some of these decisions.
Will Calipari bring a haul of Wildcats with him to Arkansas? Or will some of them stick around in Lexington for the new hire?
**[UPDATE (1:43 p.m. EST) KSR has learned that this meeting has since been canceled]**
