WATCH: John Calipari Postgame Press Conference | Stonehill
As you might expect, John Calipari was pleased with his team following the 101-67 win over Stonehill. The Skyhawks may have been the weakest team left on Kentucky’s schedule per KenPom (No. 349) but they played a lot of zone and weren’t afraid to shoot, which gave the Cats some good experience before the schedule gets tougher.
“To come off that game in Chicago, the enormity of the game, and then not getting in until 4 in the morning and then bounce back and have to play this kind of game when they’re playing the zone and they’re not going to stop playing, I was really proud of the guys,” Calipari said afterward.
The Skyhawks live and die by the 3-2 zone but Kentucky easily busted it tonight thanks in large part to Tre Mitchell in the middle (15 points, 7-9 FG) and 17 threes, including seven by Reed Sheppard. The Cats also moved the ball beautifully, tallying 26 assists on 39 made field goals.

“I love playing against zone as a coach because you have to pass the ball,” Cal said. “You have no choice. You may not want to, but you have to pass the ball. And they passed it to each other.”
Calipari spent a good chunk of the press conference discussing how some of his freshmen may be struggling with the weight of expectations while others are playing with “house money.” I bet you can guess which are which.
