John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins are teammates; and no, you aren’t reading this in 2010.

On Wednesday night, news broke that John Wall was being traded to the Houston Rockets, the same team that DeMarcus Cousins recently signed a one-year deal with. The moment reports began to leak, the Big Blue Nation collectively reflected on the one-time Kentucky Wildcat duo of Wall and Cousins, the one that sparked John Calipari’s tenure as head coach and immediately re-established the program as one of the best in the country.

The 2009-10 Kentucky squad, led by Wall and Cousins, is one of my personal favorite teams of all-time and I know plenty of members of the Wildcat faithful who feel the same way. They didn’t win a National Championship but successfully brought Kentucky back to its rightful spot atop the college basketball world after two seasons of misery.

Wall and Cousins were clearly special talents from the moment they stepped on campus. You can point to the 19-0 record to start the season, the 35-3 overall record, the No. 1 AP ranking, the Elite 8 finish, or their individual accomplishments as evidence of greatness. Wall averaged 16.6 points and 6.5 rebounds during his lone season at UK while Cousins posted 15.1 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. They were also apart of the team that brought the program its 2,000th all-time win. Two freshmen–with endless amounts of pressure and expectations–are a big reason, if not the reason, that Kentucky Basketball is what it is right now.

On and off the court, Wall and Cousins, along with fellow Kentucky teammate Eric Bledsoe, were always together. The trio has often called themselves “The Three Amigos” and Wall even has a tattoo on his back to honor them. While Bledsoe won’t be there to rejoin in on the fun in H-Town, we can still relive all the memories and laughs everyone shared during their short time in Lexington.

Get ready to feel nostalgic…

Remember when John Wall was holding this baby and Boogie gave the little one a stank face?

Or what about their NBA rookie photoshoot days?

But perhaps their best moments together were the ones that they didn’t directly share.

Cousins was apparently supposed to go first in the Big Blue Madness introductions, but wasn’t a fan of the elevating surfaces, leaving Wall to dazzle the entire nation with his now-famous self-named dance.

And then, of course, we have the full-game highlights…

Wall and Cousins are teaming up for the first time in over a decade and it feels like a long time coming. Go ahead and preorder those jerseys now, folks.

“Hello, Houston. This is DeMarcus Cousins.”
