John Young Announces Transfer to Miami (OH)
John Young has found a new home. The Louisville native announced he will transfer from Kentucky to Miami, (OH).
So far 11 Kentucky Wildcats have entered the transfer portal this offseason. Young is the first one to find a new home.
A 6-foot-6, 305-pound athlete from Christian Academy of Louisville, John Young was a four-star prospect when he signed with the Wildcats. The No. 40 offensive tackle in the country, he was the third-ranked prospect from Kentucky in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Kentucky is essentially making a couple of trades in the MAC. Young is leaving Lexington to play a MAC school the Wildcats beat this fall, while welcoming an offensive lineman from another MAC school Kentucky beat this fall. New left tackle Marques Cox actually suffered a season-ending injury when Northern Illinois fell 31-23 at Kroger Field.
The Wildcats may still add another offensive lineman or two from the transfer portal. In addition to Cox, Glasgow native IOL Tanner Bowles transferred from Alabama to Kentucky. The Cats could use another offensive tackle. If they cannot find one prior to the spring semester, there will be more options when the portal reopens in May.
