John Young, Kentucky Offensive Lineman, Enters the Transfer Portal
A member of the Big Blue Wall is looking for a new home. Offensive lineman John Young will enter the transfer portal. He spent three years at Kentucky and has two years of eligibility remaining.
A 6-foot-6, 305-pound athlete from Christian Academy of Louisville, Young was a four-star prospect when he signed with the Wildcats. The No. 40 offensive tackle in the country, he was the third-ranked prospect from Kentucky in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Like most offensive linemen, the early enrollee redshirted during his first year on campus. In 2021 he played in every game on special teams. At one point Young slid from tackle to offensive guard. He spent the entire 2022 campaign second on the depth chart behind Auburn transfer Tashawn Manning. Kentucky appears to be pursuing more linemen in the portal. Instead of getting stuck behind another transfer, John Young will pursue opportunities elsewhere.
The Louisville native has plenty of size and tools, but it never worked out in Lexington. A good locker room guy, the former four-star prospect will surely land on his feet.
