Johnny Juzang reportedly being waived by Jazz, will enter free agency

Johnny Juzang should have a handful of suitors as a free agent this offseason.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Utah Jazz are waiving Juzang, allowing him to enter unrestricted free agency. Only 24 years old, the former Kentucky Wildcat/UCLA Bruin had his best season as a pro in 2024-25, averaging 8.9 points and 2.9 rebounds per outing while shooting 37.6 percent from deep on nearly five attempts per game. The 6-foot-7 guard appeared in 64 games for the Jazz, starting 18 of them.
Juzang has played 102 games across his three-year NBA career, all of them spent in Utah. The Jazz had until 6:00 p.m. ET on Monday to decide on whether or not to guarantee Juzang’s $2.84 million salary for 2025-26. Utah recently added rookies Ace Bailey and Walter Clayton Jr. as first-round draft picks, which likely pushed the front office to move on from Juzang.

Last summer, Juzang signed a four-year, $11.4 million contract with the Jazz, but only the first year included guaranteed money. He’s expected to clear waivers on Wednesday, with Charania reporting that the California native “will receive interest from teams.” As a sharpshooting specialist coming off his best season yet, Juzang’s skillset could easily land him a multi-year deal.
Juzang started his college career at Kentucky in 2019-20 as a rotation player off the bench. He averaged 2.9 points in 12.3 minutes per game as a Wildcat under John Calipari before transferring to UCLA. Juzang spent two seasons with the Bruins (2020-22), earning All-Pac 12 Second Team honors in 2021 and Third Team All-American honors in 2022. He ultimately went undrafted in 2022 and later signed a two-way contract with the Jazz.
Where will Juzang land next?
