Blue-chip OL Jonathan Daniels commits to Florida State
Another offensive tackle target is off the board for Kentucky football. On Thursday afternoon, Jonathan Daniels ended his recruitment with a commitment to Florida State.
Mike Norvell‘s program recorded a significant in-state recruiting win when Daniels committed to the Seminoles over Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, and a host of others.
“From the very first time I was on campus, they made me feel like a priority,” Daniels told On3’s Chad Simmons. “I camped there, and during the camp Coach Norvell walked up and offered me. From that day, it’s been rubber to the road. I’ve felt like I was their top priority from day one.”

The Pensacola (Fla.) Pine Forest rising senior is the No. 116 overall prospect in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking. Daniels is a top-10 tackle in the nation and a top-20 Sunshine State prospect. Kentucky did a good job getting the blue-chipper on campus for an official visit, but this was always going to be a tough battle due to the long-standing relationship with Florida State.
Daniels and Jac’qawn McRoy (Oregon) were both top-200 tackle prospects that Kentucky got on campus this summer, but each is headed elsewhere. UK currently has only five true tackles on the 2023 roster, and addressing this position is a must this cycle. Some new prospects will need to emerge after the Cats missed on their key targets.
