Arguably the biggest name in the college football transfer portal this offseason will not be taking his talents to Kentucky this fall. Despite some early reports that the Cats were in the mix, sources tell KSR’s Matt Jones that UK will not be a finalist for Jordan Addison.

Last year the Pitt pass-catcher reeled in 100 receptions for 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns. Addison won the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the sport’s top wide receiver.

Addison was one of the last players to enter the transfer portal before the May 1 deadline. The move is surrounded by controversy. Pitt fans cried foul play, not so subtly accusing USC of tampering. In fact, Pete Thamel reports Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi had multiple conversations with USC’s Lincoln Riley, essentially telling him to back off his star wideout.

Addison will cash in where ever his next destination may be. Pittsburgh insider Mike Vukovcan reports he could earn up to $2 million at USC. He also shared that Addison declined an $800,000 offer from Kentucky at the end of the regular season. “I can say definitively this was false,” Matt Jones Tweeted.

Even though UK will not be winning the Jordan Addison sweepstakes, their work in the transfer portal is not over. The Wildcats still have a few available scholarships to improve the roster before the season kicks off Sept. 3.

“Nothing is completely set until we get to game one,” Levis said Tuesday morning on Kentucky Roll Call. “With the spring game we had the guys out there playing, but nothing’s going to be set until game one. There’s still guys competing and there’s still guys fighting for spots and opportunities. The starters aren’t necessarily the starters and we’re just going to keep working as if we’re trying to earn our jobs and make this offense as good as possible for when the season comes up.”
