Other Impressive Wins for Kentucky Track and Field
Kentucky had home-field advantage, maybe for the last time at Nutter Field House. A new indoor facility to be named after UK legend Jim Green is under construction. The Rod McCravy Invitational was a homecoming for Abby Steiner, her first meet since winning The Bowerman, the Heisman trophy of the sport. Running the 400-meter dash for the first time in her career, Steiner coasted to a victory in 51.7 seconds.
The Wildcats brought home victories in 10 events. Masai Russell almost broke a school record in the 60-meter hurdles. Her 6.87 second sprint was the fastest in the NCAA this year and only .01 from Keni Harrison’s National Championship performance.
