Jordan Obi will begin rehabbing injury next week, looking to 'get on the floor as soon as possible'
This offseason, Kenny Brooks helped revitalize the Kentucky women’s basketball brand by putting together a roster that can contend in the SEC. While all seemed to be going fine and dandy through the summer, there have been two major injuries occur that could be very problematic for this team.
On July 14th, Dominika Paurová suffered an apparent knee injury against Iceland in the FIBA U20 Women’s EuroBasket. On Monday, UK put out a press release noting that not only was Paurová out indefinitely with a lower leg injury, but so was Penn transfer forward Jordan Obi.
While Paurová’s injury was the first injury that we learned about, it wasn’t the first one to occur.
According to Obi, this injury took place “about a month ago” during a workout. Of course, a “lower leg injury” could be anything really, but during media day on Tuesday, Obi was wearing a cast on her left leg. She also had a scooter with her that she used to move around.

Being out indefinitely may seem like the end of the world, and it certainly sucks for the BBN and especially Obi herself, but if there’s any sort of silver lining to be found in this, it’s that she will begin rehab soon.
Very soon actually.
When asked when the timetable for her rehab would be, Obi mentioned that process will begin “next week”. As you would imagine, it’s hard for Obi to deal with the situation being the competitor she is, but she’s making the best of it that she can.
“[I was] just like, ‘Wow…’,” Obi explained. “Obviously, I’ve never been injured before. It was wild. Right now, I’m just in a headspace of taking it day by day. When I get this [cast] off, I’m starting rehab. [I’m] really gonna attack that. Obviously, not what I expected for myself, but it is what it is.”
