Jordan Wright has been cleared, will play at Florida
Kentucky outside linebacker Jordan Wright has been cleared to play and will be available for the team’s game at Florida on Saturday.
The school announced the 6-foot-5, 231-pound pass-rusher was officially back this afternoon.
A graduate senior out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Wright has totaled 106 tackles in his career to go with 15.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 12 pass breakups, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and two defensive touchdowns.
A team captain in 2022, the former Dillard (FL) High standout has played in 42 career games with 12 starting assignments.
Wright missed Kentucky’s season-opening win vs. Miami (OH) for undisclosed reasons, with head coach Mark Stoops forced to stay mum on the off-field situations involving the graduate senior and star running back Chris Rodriguez.

“I’ve been advised that I just need to stay mum on this situation,” he said Monday. “It’s not Mark Stoops. It’s out of my hands. … I don’t have anything I can report. I’ve always been transparent with you, tried to be the best I can. Again I’ve been advised — there are things going on, layers to this that I’ve been advised I really can’t comment on it. It’s not that I’m trying to hide things from you.
“If I could say it, I would. I mean, it’s that simple. I’m not trying to hold anything back. I can’t be more clear now. I’ve been advised — I think you can understand that it’s out of my hands.”
Now, Wright’s situation has been resolved, with the standout pass-rusher set to join his teammates on the field in Gainesville. As for Rodriguez, the wait continues.
