Josh Allen is back where he belongs, in the Pro Bowl. On Wednesday the NFL released its selections for the AFC and NFC teams. The Jacksonville Jaguar earned a spot as a reserve outside linebacker for the AFC.

The former Kentucky Wildcat is having a career year as the Jags are one win away from a second straight AFC South title. Allen has three three-sack games this fall, including one on Sunday that pushed him past Calais Campbell to set a new franchise single-season sack record.

Allen has 16.5 sacks in 2023-24, the most ever by a former Kentucky Wildcat. He’s only .5 sack behind the league leaders, T.J. Watt and Trey Hendrickson. Josh Allen has four games with 2.5 sacks. Lawrence Taylor is the only other player in NFL history to do that in one season, a feat the Hall of Famer accomplished in 1986.

This fall Allen has recorded 61 tackles. He also has 16 tackles for loss and 31 quarterback hits, both of which are career-highs.

College Football’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2018 was the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2019. He was also selected to the pro bowl as a rookie. This is the most sacks he’s recorded in a season since his debut.

There have been 17 former Kentucky Wildcats to earn a spot in the Pro Bowl. Za’Darius Smith was the most recent selection, earning the honor in 2020. The two pass rushers are the only Mark Stoops products to receive the honor.
